Participation in Initiatives
The Taisei Group believes that it is important for various entities to cooperate and actively engage with each to resolve global-scale social issues. We participate in various domestic and international initiatives, including the United Nations Global Compact.
Overall
The United Nations Global Compact (GC) | The UN Global Compact is a global framework that encourages companies and organizations to take responsible and creative leadership and to act as good members of society toward attaining sustainable growth. The Taisei Group participated in the GC in April 2018 and committed to disseminating and implementing the Ten Principles in the four areas of human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption. In addition, the GCNJ conducts of subcommittees for deliberations and exchanging information on specific topics concerning approaches and initiatives for sustainability.In FY2023, Taisei Corporation participated in the following subcommittees.

The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) | The Taisei Group promotes various initiatives in our efforts to contribute towards attaining the 17 goals and 169 targets adopted as an action plan for humanity, earth, and prosperity at the UN Sustainable Development Goals Summit. |
Keidanren (Japan Business Federation) | As a member corporation, Taisei Corporation is committed to respect the content of its Charter of Corporate Behavior and to carry out activities toward the establishment of the organization’s goal, Sustainable Capitalism. Work with Council for Better Corporate Citizenship (CBCC) | Taisei Corporation participates in activities to promote and raise awareness of CSR and sustainability as a member corporation of the Council for Better Corporate Citizenship (CBCC), which facilitates the acceptance of Japanese companies by regional communities overseas as good corporate citizens. |
Nikkenren (Japan Federation of Construction Contractors) | Taisei Corporation supports the activities of the Nikkenren (Japan Federation of Construction Contractors), which works to resolve domestic and international issues in the construction industry, including various industry-related systems, and we participate in various committees as a member. |
ESG Information Disclosure Study Group | In August 2022, Taisei Corporation joined the ESG Information Disclosure Study Group, which conducts research on the appropriate way of disclosing corporate ESG information. Through this, we will make efforts toward improving corporate value and achieving sustainable growth with appropriate ESG information disclosure. |
Japan Forum of Business and Society (JFBS) | With regard to the relationship between companies and society and various issues in sustainable development, the Taisei Group participates in the Japan Forum of Business and Society (JFBS), a forum for connecting theory, field, and policy through wide-ranging cooperation between academia, business, government, labor unions, consumer organizations, NPOs, and NGOs in Japan and overseas. We make use of knowledge gained at its annual conference and other events to promote sustainability activities. |

SBTi(Science Based Targets Initiatives) | The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) aims to drive ambitious climate action in the private sector by encouraging organizations to set science-based emissions reduction targets. The two CO2 emissions reduction targets for 2030 established as milestones in Taisei Corporation's “Taisei Green Target 2050” have been certified as SBT, by the initiative (SBTi). |
TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) / TCFD Consortium | In July 2020, Taisei Corporation declared its support for the TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) recommendations. As a member of the TCFD Consortium, which is where discussions take place, we disclose information based on the disclosure framework of the final TCFD report. |
TNFD (Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosure) / TNFD Forum | From July 2022, Taisei Corporation has supported the philosophy of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and has been participating in the TNFD Forum. Through this, we will work to set up a framework for the assessment and disclosure of risks and opportunities related to natural capital and biodiversity, and contribute to the achievement of sustainability and resilience for society as a whole. |
GX League | From FY2023, Taisei Corporation has participated in the GX League (GX: green transformation), which was established by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and will contribute towards creating systems to ensure that corporate efforts and investments toward GX are fairly assessed and creating carbon-neutral markets from Japan to the world. |
Challenge Zero (Challenge Net Zero Carbon Innovation) | Taisei Corporation endorses the Challenge Zero (Challenge Net Zero Carbon Innovation) Declaration, which was launched by Keidanren. Along with disclosing details of initiatives of innovations toward the achieving of a decarbonized society, we also aim to resolve social issues with the development of net-zero emission technologies. |
Japan Partnership for Circular Economy (J4CE) | Since May 2021, Taisei Corporation has been a member of the Japan Partnership for Circular Economy (J4CE), which is a platform for a decarbonized, decentralized society and a circular economy. This platform was established by the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Keidanren. We are pursuing open innovation that transcends corporate and industrial boundaries and the Realization of a Circular Economy by publicly declaring our commitment to ambitious challenges that will bring society closer to a circular economy. |
Circular Partners(CPs) | From December 2023, Taisei Corporation has participated in the Circular Partners(CPs) led by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. We actively engage ourselves in the “expansion of the initiatives through the coordination, which centers the relationship in whole life cycles” and the “organic coordination, which centers the relationship between countries, municipals, academic institutions, companies and industry associations, related organizations and associations, etc., which tackle circular economy ambitiously and innovatively”, and we will promote the transition to circular economy. |
Japan Business Initiative for Biodiversity (JBIB) | From March 2023, as a member corporation of the Japan Business Initiative for Biodiversity (JBIB), Taisei Corporation promotes initiatives for biodiversity conservation through the Guideline of Promotion of Business Innovation in harmony with Nature and Community and information sharing with the Association for Business Innovation in harmony with Nature and Community (ABINC). |
Private Sector Engagement in Biodiversity | Taisei Corporation participates as a member corporation in the Japan Business and Biodiversity Partnership. This was launched by the Ministry of the Environment, and promotes biodiversity conservation initiatives by businesses in cooperation with related domestic and international organizations, such as NPOs, NGOs, and research institutions. |
Keidanren Initiative for Biodiversity Conservation, etc. | Taisei Corporation has expressed its support for the 2010 Declaration of Biodiversity by Keidanren and Action Policy, and we promote initiatives for biodiversity conservation through information sharing of activities and so forth. |
30 by 30 Alliance For Biodiversity | Taisei Corporation has participated in the “30 by 30 Alliance for Biodiversity”(The global target, which will contribute to the goal of 30% of the world's land and water ecosystems by 2030.)established by Ministry of the Environment Japan. Taisei Group will support activities to expand and manage biodiversity conservation areas through the development and use of Taisei technologies for living in harmony with nature and conserving the environment. |
Eco-First Commitment Participation in the Eco-First Council |
In May 2012, Taisei Corporation submitted an Eco-First Commitment to the Minister of the Environment and was certified as an Eco-First Company. We are steadily fulfilling this commitment. Furthermore, we serve as the coordinator of the Eco-First Promotion Council, which is made up of the 54 companies that have been certified as Eco-First Companies (as of March 2023). We are working to strengthen our cooperation with the Ministry of the Environment and the other Eco-First Companies to resolve environmental issues. |
Plastics Smart | Taisei Corporation endorses and promotes initiatives of the Ministry of the Environment's Plastics Smart campaign, which is conducted by organizations such as local governments, companies, and NGOs with the aim of resolving the issue of global marine plastic. |
Water Project | Since 2015, Taisei Corporation has been a participant in the Ministry of the Environment's Water Project, based on the Basic Law on the Water Cycle. We promote initiatives toward maintaining and restoring a healthy water cycle. |
Voluntary Action Plan on the Environment for the Construction Industry (Nikkenren) | Taisei Corporation participates in Nikkenren's Voluntary Action Plan on the Environment, promotes energy conservation and continues to make efforts toward reducing CO2 emissions. |

Human Capital Management Consortium | Taisei Corporation participates in the Human Capital Management Consortium, which was established with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Financial Services Agency as its observers. Through this participation we have been deepening our knowledge on “human capital management” to improve our medium- to long-term corporate value. |

My Jinken (human rights) Declaration | Taisei Corporation announced its support for the “My Jinken (human rights) Declaration” project of the Ministry of Justice in July 2021, which invites people to declare their intention to conduct activities to respect human rights in order to achieve a society in which everyone respects human rights. |
The Valuable 500 | Taisei Corporation joined the “The Valuable 500”, a global initiative aiming to enhance disability inclusion in society through business leadership and opportunity in May 2021. The initiative was launched at the World Economic Form (Davos Forum) held in January 2019. |
Japan Intellectual Property Association | As a member corporation, Taisei Corporation is engaged in the appropriate use of systems related to intellectual property and conducts activities such as mutual study and information exchange between members through participation in training and other activities. |
Construction RX Consortium | Through joint research and development on robots, IoT applications, and other technologies related to construction, Taisei Corporation supports the purpose of the Construction RX Consortium. This was launched with the goal of promoting productivity and boosting the appeal of the construction industry as a whole. As a full member of the consortium since August 2023, we are committed to solving various issues in the construction industry. |
EcoVadis | EcoVadis evaluates the performance of companies in terms of environmental and social sustainability through its own platform. Taisei Corporation has been registered with EcoVadis as a supplier since 2019, and discloses information as required. |
Sedex | Sedex supplies the data platform for sharing information on social and environmental business practices across the supply chain. Taisei Corporation has been registered with Sedex as a supplier since October 2023, and discloses information as required. |
